This project was designed around the question
"Can we breath new life into a college campus tour?"
This series was created alongside a microsite to give prospective students a chance to have small interactions with the Crown brand that would leave a positive impression.
Though all episodes used the talent of Crown students and alumni, New Song during season 2 was a highlight.
To show off the newly renovated editing room and sound studio, we convinced a student to write and perform a song for the episode – which is also the background soundtrack for the episode.
With the song produced, we contracted an alumnus to make album artwork, and we distributed the song on Apple Music and Spotify.
We started this project wanting to use effective storytelling techniques and the best technology we could get our hands-on. We filmed with a Blackmagic Ursa Mini to finish in 4K to future-proof the footage.
We also gave the cuts a highly stylized look. The series would have an overall fanciful, fun, and free feel that could translate to an enjoyable experience for the prospective student while still giving them a peek into the college.
This was a win for the college as students were able to experience "touring" the college uniquely and memorably. During the two years, this series was filmed and distributed, Crown saw a considerable uptick in enrollment.
